Dr. Cynthia Sullivan

 Dr. Cynthia Sullivan has been a partner at the  Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax (NAF) since  2006.  She is also an Assistant Professor of  Neurology at the Georgetown University Medical  Center and is credentialed at Inova Fairfax Hospital  and Virginia Hospital Center. Dr. Sullivan received  her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland and  completed her fellowship in neuropsychology at the  Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in  Washington, D.C. For the next 5 years, she was the  co-director of the neuropsychology program at the  VAMC and served as the psychologist for the  chronic pain program.

Since 1998, she has been actively involved in research. Topics of research interest include computerized cognitive assessment and the cognitive correlates of multiple sclerosis (MS), dementia, neurocysticercosis, allergies, sedating medications, and Persian Gulf War Syndrome. She has co-authored book chapters and numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and published abstracts.  Her research has been presented at national and international scientific conferences, including: American Neurological Association, American Academy of Neurology, and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.

 At NAF, Dr. Sullivan provides neuropsychological evaluations to assist with differential diagnosis and functional analysis for a wide range of neurocognitive conditions across the lifespan, including learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, autoimmune disorders, epilepsy, infectious disease, cerebrovascular illness, dementia, and psychiatric conditions. Dr. Sullivan also serves as the director of the training program at NAF.

Dr. Sullivan is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society, and American Psychological Association.  She has also served as a reviewer for a number of scientific journals.
